I am sooooo not gonna have hair after this week sigh.
I am gearing up for IFDC in Vegas, yeah yeah I keep saying that sorry it's what's on my mind right now.
I have to clear/gross a ton of money.
I am currently over at my friends sewing like a fiend and took a moment to sit and check mail and type.

I am working on Kimono dresses, tops, kimono, rococo gowns,  cloaks, and some various odds and ends.
My house ate a whole bag of dollie blankets I had cut out and I 've looked but cannot for the life of me found them.
The house did spit up the blue cloth I could'nt find before so I guess I have a trade off grrrrr.

We worked more on the basement.
Not really time I had to take out of my sewing but I needed to help with it.
Now all that is left is some organization of the areas where I will be working and some things put up on Ebay to clear the last shelf down there and we will be good to go.

Is it wrong that C's organizing system bothers me?
LOL
I am anal about having everything in a place that is set aside for it so that I can find things easily.
He's got stuff in random boxes and bags and bottles kind of shoved into order near his work area, it's organized for him but um....shakes head.

I have one week to get ready.
I am looking forward to this but sheeesh.

So the pic here are from a comission I am doing.
Angelik_fiona wanted a roccocco maids outfit so I modified a pattern and did a complete pattern for the apron and mob cap.

Dress with apron and mob cap.
I had to put it on my DoD two who is a boy body so it fits a bit oddly in these pics ie he does'nt have boobies lol so the top fits a bit odd etc.
Apron was hand made from a pattern I created as is the mob cap.
There will also be bloomers and a chemise for undies.

Worthy of your time and attention regardless of your Party Affiliation
It could not be spoken any simpler for who is really to blame. The problem is that we do not have the power to fire them. We have to wait to vote in more idiots that are unscrupulous and dead set on their own dishonest agendas.

545 PEOPLE
By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.
You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.
If the Marines are in IRAQ, it's because they want them in IRAQ.
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like 'the economy,' 'inflation,' or 'politics' that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They, and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

Mistaken identity...

My mom sent me this...

Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the
right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten
the red light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn and screaming in
frustration as she missed her chance to get through the intersection,
dropping her cell phone and makeup.

As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked
up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered
her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station
where she was searched, finger printed, photographed, and placed in a
holding cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell
and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the
arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, 'I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind
your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front
of you, and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What Would
Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the
'Follow Me to Sunday School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated
Christian fish emblem on the trunk. Naturally, I assumed you had stolen
the car.'

Speeding - Good, Better and Best

GOOD: Madison, WI policeman had a perfect spot to watch for speeders, but
wasn't getting many. Then he discovered the problem- a 12- year-old boy was
standing up the road with a hand painted sign, which read "RADAR TRAP AHEAD".
The officer also found the boy had an accomplice who was down the road with a
sign reading "TIPS" and a bucket full of money.
(And we used to just sell lemonade!)

BETTER: A motorist was mailed a picture of his car speeding through an
automated radar post in La Crosse, WI. A $40 speeding ticket was included.
Being cute, he sent the police department a picture of $40.
The police responded with another mailed photo of handcuffs.

BEST: A Young woman was pulled over for speeding.
A Wisconsin State Trooper walked to her car window, flipping open his ticket book, she
said, "I bet you are going to sell me a ticket to the State Trooper's Ball.
"He replied, "Wisconsin State Troopers don't have balls."
There was a moment of silence.
He then closed his book, got back in his patrol car and left .

Zen of anger
So this last post on the 'Orphan Works' seems to be a bit of an older bill that keeps being reworded.

So from my post here...

http://ne.livejournal.com/594697.html

...we have most all the info I could find on it when I saw it posted by another friend on my friends list.
I posted as it does concern me and I read the articles and then looked for the bill...could'nt find it.
So I left it and edited it a couple of times when finding out more.

Then today I found this...

http://kynn.livejournal.com/799971.html

Someone else also did research and found the original bill.
Now their veiw is different from mine in that they don't seem to feel that this is so much to worry about and that's their right.
They state that the bill is dead however and that I don't agree with as the site on orphan works states that it is going to reintroduce this bill.

However I think holding off writing your congress rep might be advisable till they do reintroduce it as someone stated...

"In all fairness the IPA did state that you shouldn't write your legislators/representatives util the bill is formally introduced into the 2008 congressional season, at which time they would report the bill number and details of the re-made bill for anyone watching to take action against accordingly. They're telling people not to act until they fully know what's going on about the issue."

http://www.illustratorspartnership.org/index.php

"The goals of The Partnership are ambitious, and they cannot be achieved easily or overnight. But the Board of Directors strongly believes that the time is right and the window of opportunity, though small, is open for illustrators to reposition themselves in the marketplace. The Partnership is devoted to fulfilling this mission, thereby giving professional illustrators a vehicle to join together and promote their long-term professional and economic business goals in a rapidly changing business and technological environment."

http://www.illustratorspartnership.org/01_topics/article.php?searchterm=00263 (APRIL 08)

And someone elses reasearch and post on this.
This person is awesome by the by with the info on copyright and such and while I still feel that I need to watch for this and that we all need to read up on the legislation and what not dealing with artists this post did clear up a bit of confusion over some things...

http://maradydd.livejournal.com/374886.html

Edit...Comparable issues in the UK...
http://www.hm-treasury.gov.uk./independent_reviews/gowers_review_intellectual_property/gowersreview_index.cfm

So there you have all the info I have so far.
While yes the first bill died, we now have one being reworded and about to be introduced on the same subject.
So yeah I want to be informed on this, I want to make sure it does NOT happen.
Zen of anger
If the large corporations and the US government have it their way we will lose al the rights to our art unless paying for copyright through registry agencies soon.
This article is a must read...

 http://mag.awn.com/index.php?ltype=Columns&column=MindBiz&article_no=3605

I know as a 'straving' artist that I don't often have the money to be able to copyright my art through the government etc, however it is still copyrighted since I created it.
What this new law will do is call your 'unregistered' work an 'orphaned' work and therefore ANYONE would be able to use it, without giving you ANY compensation for using it.

Edit...Yes the original bill was dated in 2005, and 2006 however the damn thing is up again under a new redraft/rewrite so YES this is still important!!!

So yeah read the article.

Recent interview with someone about this article...
http://www.sellyourtvconceptnow.com/orphan.html

Write to your government officials LOTS.
Spread the word.

http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/no-to-orphan-works-act.html

Edit:  More on this...

http://www.copyright.gov/orphan/
http://www.asmp.org/news/spec2008/orphan_update.php

People keep going, this is no big deal, this won't happen, I don't see anything wrong with the rewording of the new draft etc.
Here is why I find it a big deal.
Not everyone can afford to get their art registered through the copyright office and therefore rely on the fact that it is copyrighted just by the fact they made it.
So take someone out there who decides that they like your art.
They take your art and post it on their site.
They also take and get rid of any identifying marks by you on said art.
Take away your watermark, your name/sig etc.
So someone else comes along, sees 'that' peice of artwork, puts it on their site, this happens a couple of times so that by the time someone sees the peice and can't figure out who's it is, can't find a registered copy of it so by the definition in 'orphan works' that peice is orphaned so they can use it how they wish without compensating you etc.
Yes this is hypothetical and a LOT of what if and could be but it's possible and frankly I'd rather NOT let that happen to anyone.

Zen of anger
Got this from a friend, please pass it on, pass it far and wide.

Fake Animal Rescue
From: Eleusinia Society
Date: Mar 14, 2008 8:42 AM
FAKE SHELTER / RESCUER ALERT

Tony & Rebecca Williams claim to have a rescue in Rocky Mount , NC and are trying to get dogs from all over the Eastern Seaboard. (She offered to take 14 dogs since Monday.)
She continues to take dogs. Most are pit bulls, with some offers to adopt Presa Canarios, Rottweilers, Dobermans, and Wolf hybrids. In addition, she had previously posted that her roommate was looking for a Great Dane or Great Dane mix.
She also posted that she was "desperate" for a Chihuahua and she really wanted a Min Pin and a Jack Russell. She claims her rescue is a pit bull rescue, but another pit rescuer called the local Animal Control.

Animal Control's comments:
"She's been barred from taking any dogs from the shelters in her area." He also said she has a long criminal history, has been selling Pit Bulls on street corners for $15 or $20 and has been under investigation for dog fighting. Atlantic Rescue has now banned her, after finding out this information. These are the breeds she has asked for:

a. Pit Bulls
b. Rottweillers
c. Dobermans
d. Presa Canarios
e. Tea Cup Chihuahuas
f. Jack Russell Terriers
g. Sharpeis
h. Miniature Pinscher
i. Great Dane (Pure Breed or Mix)

She uses the little dogs as bait!
Please cross post.

They are going out of their area looking for dogs to adopt for their inhumane purposes.

PLEASE CROSSPOST EVERYWHERE!

Being Obese may be illegal soon ...

Reposted verbatim from a friends lj...

*insert outrage face*

In addition to there being five proposed bills in the Mississippi Senate seeking to ban/restrict abortion and access to our single clinic, the House has some fairly fucktarded legislation, too.

Like HB 282: Maytall's idea of "fixing" Mississippi's obesity epidemic is simple: Just don't let us fatties eat anywhere more public than in the shaming, private light of one's own refrigerator. Obviously, every overweight person in Mississippi so obsessed and consumed with an endless insatiable need to stuff our gullets full of lard and sugarbombs, we cannot be trusted to consume food in public at all. One might even consider it a beautifying project for Mississippi: my grand daring to FEED MYSELF is evidently repulsive, given the stares and looks of disgust I get from other restaurant-goers.

HOUSE BILL NO. 282
AN ACT TO PROHIBIT CERTAIN FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS FROM SERVING FOOD TO ANY PERSON WHO IS OBESE, BASED ON CRITERIA PRESCRIBED BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH; TO DIRECT THE DEPARTMENT TO PREPARE WRITTEN MATERIALS THAT DESCRIBE AND EXPLAIN THE CRITERIA FOR DETERMINING WHETHER A PERSON IS OBESE AND TO PROVIDE THOSE MATERIALS TO THE FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS; TO DIRECT THE DEPARTMENT TO MONITOR THE FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS FOR COMPLIANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF
MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1.
(1) The provisions of this section shall apply to any food establishment that is required to obtain a permit from the State Department of Health under Section 41-3-15(4)(f), that operates
primarily in an enclosed facility and that has five (5) or more seats for customers.
(2) Any food establishment to which this section applies shall not be allowed to serve food to any person who is obese, based on criteria prescribed by the State Department of Health after consultation with the Mississippi Council on Obesity Prevention and Management established under Section 41-101-1 or its successor. The State Department of Health shall prepare written materials that describe and explain the criteria for determining whether a person is obese, and shall provide those materials to all food establishments to which this section applies. A food establishment shall be entitled to rely on the criteria for obesity in those written materials when determining whether or not it is allowed to serve food to any person.
(3) The State Department of Health shall monitor the food establishments to which this section applies for compliance with the provisions of this section, and may revoke the permit of any food establishment that repeatedly violates the provisions of this section.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2008.

Feel free to bombard him with email here, and please spread this far and wide so that other people will let him have it with both barrels, too.
